CHRISTIAN
WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP CONVENTION 2012
Between 24th and 26th February 103
ladies attended the national Christian Women’s Fellowship Convention at The
Hayes, Swanwick. This year’s theme was
“Our Awesome and Intimate God”. Speaker,
Sally Willett, concentrated on our relationship with God through our prayer
life and encouraged us not to give up as we are all work in progress with God.
She spoke to us of Isaiah 40 v 31 …
31 but those who hope in the LORD will
renew their strength. They will soar on
wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be
faint.
… encouraging us to aim high - to soar on wings like
eagles and not scrabble in the dirt like chickens!
All of our gifts are for the common good and that we are
called to shape the world for a purpose! This will all happen in God’s time.
The Bible Study was led by Wendy Beck who took us through
the famous and infamous women in Jesus’ genealogy. We all know about Mary, but
are you familiar with the stories of Tamar, Rahab, Bathsheba and Ruth? This
proved a fascinating insight into women of the Old Testament that many of us
had just taken for granted when reading Mathew chapter 1.
As we were in the time of the TV and film award season
the Saturday evening concert followed these lines with several ladies graciously and humbly as they
could (!) receiving a “Swanwick”. Trying
not to boast and be too proud of themselves they now have these on display in
their homes!!!
Next year’s convention will be Friday 22nd –
Sunday 24th February 2013. Booking will begin in September. The
speaker will be Loretta Minghella, the Director of Christian Aid.
(We hope to be able to offer crèche facilities for the
under 5’s). If you have never been away with us before and are not sure – why
not consider joining us for the Saturday?
